Nintendo Wii Play

Posted on September 3rd, 2008 by Justin

Nintendo Wii PlayThe game Wii Play is a great game for the Wii. I believe it should be included with the Wii system but I do not run Nintendo.. Wii Play costs $49.99 and comes with a Wii Remote. The remote alone costs $40.00 so the game is only $10.00 more and is great fun. The purpose of Wii Play is to introduce the user to the Wii controller. Then the game starts off only one game is available for play which is the Shooting Gallery. This game brings back come of the Nintendo classics such as the flying ducks from duck hunt. The last round involves some heroic work and aliens. I will not spoil the fun by saying anymore.

Next up is Find Mii. The object of this game is to use the Wii controller and your Mii. The game starts off fairly easy, with your Mii walking with 2-3 other Miis. As the game progresses you will have to find your Mii while it is swimming in water, in the dark, or floating out in space.

The next game that will be unlocked is Table Tennis. To play this game simply make sure the paddle is at a place to hit the ball. You go not need to press any buttons. For every three hits another Mii will come to watch.

After Table Tennis is mastered Pose Mii will be available. In Pose Mii you will need to twist your Mii to match the pose on the screen. As the game goes on the player will also have to use the A or B button to switch poses.

The next game after Pose Mii is Laser Hockey. Laser Hockey is like air hockey. You start off with a puck that is shaped like a used staple. The player can twist the Wii controller to change the angle at which the puck is hit. Tip: to use a round paddle hold down both A and B during the countdown before the game begins.

Next up: Billiards. Use the arrow keys to change the angle you hit the ball. To hit the ball aim and hold B in. Pull back on the Wii controller and push forward. Hit all of the ball in order to win this game.

After you master Billiards try your hand at some Fishing! This is a great game! The Wii remote is in 3d mode here. Hold the remote like a fishing pole, dangle your hook in front of the fish, wait for them to bite, and pull up just like in real fishing! Stay away from some fish as they will subtract points from your score. There are also bonus fish worth more when caught. Good Luck!

Second to last is Charge! That’s right, you’re going to be racing cows. To play this the Wii remote is hold sideways and tilted left or right to steer. To make your cow move faster tilt the remote forward. Players are rewarded points for knocking over scarecrows. This game is also fun in two player mode. Head to head cow racing!

Next up is my favorite: Tanks. This game makes use of the nun chuck. The nun chuck is used to steer the tank. The A button is used to drop mines, and the B button will fire the shells at your enemies. The shells also bounce so you can hide behind walls and strike your enemies. Only six shells may be fired at one time. Tip: Blow up mines before they are ready to blow by shooting them with a shell. I won’t say my highest but feel free to leave a comment below on your highest score.

Carnival Games

Posted on September 1st, 2008 by Justin

Nintendo Wii Carnival GamesCarnival Games for the Wii is one of my favorite games to play when I just want to play a quick game. The games starts off by selecting the mode (single or multi-player up to four) and then you can select your “carnival person” or create a new one. These are not your mii’s you created on the console. These are special characters used only for this game. My favorite game is Balloon Darts, located in Love Lane. The object is to bust as many balloons as possible in a set amount of time. The smaller balloons are worth more. To play this hole the Wii controller like it is a dart and do a throwing motion. Ka-Pow, located in Claw Alley, is also a fun game. This is the classic knock the clown with the funny hair down game. A circle moves through the rows of clowns and you use a throwing motion at just the right time to release the ball. I have seen players knock down two clowns with one throw and have also saw just the hair get knocked off of the clown. There are many other similar games such as Spilled Milk where you have to knock all three milk jugs off and the popular Dunk Tank game. Another favorite is Going Nuts, an Arcade Alley game. This game costs 20 tickets to play but also pays in tickets. The object of this game is to collect the nuts as they fall from the tree in your basket. The Wii controller is held sideways and is tilted left and right to move the basket. This game is great fun and with some practice you can get your 20 tickets back plus more for collecting the nuts.

For multi-player fun I suggest the Shooting Gallery located in Rodent Row. Up to four players can simultaneously shoot at ducks are they pass by. Do not hit the red ducks as they will subtrack points. Players are also rewarded more points if they hit the smaller bulls eye of the duck instead of just shooting the duck anywhere.

After you have mastered a game a special super game will be available to play. This is a variation of the original game and is just a tad bit harder than the original carnival game. As the game is played the player is rewarded points that can be used to buy special fashion accessories for the carnival person. Special items are also awarded such as elephant feet. Who doesn’t want to wear elephant feet around the carnival? Gotta fit in, right?

Posted on August 20th, 2008 by Justin

Hello everyone. Just an update as to why this blog has not been updated as frequently as I would have liked. It’s summer and I don’t play as many games so the GameFly membership was temporarily cancelled. Maybe in the Fall/Winter I will be writing more updates. Which brings me to this: Would you like to write for this blog? Use the contact form and I’ll get back to you ASAP! I’m looking for Wii game reviews only right now. In the future I may add in reviews for the other game systems.
