Up Video Game Review

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The game Up is based on the original movie in theaters. You will make your way through sinister forests, up in the air, in a cave, or in a dangerous secret base. You will also be battling vicious dogs, or spiders. Read on to learn about each level.

As Carl (old man) you will have to help Russell (little dude) up onto places that he can’t get to. Carl can use his cane to get onto high places, attaching it to a vine. In the first level you’re Dug (dog) and your flying in an airplane taking down planes. I didn’t get why they put that level in there. Once you shoot them down you are Carl and Russell in a Jungle.

There will be monkeys to show you how to do stuff. Like how to push rocks, how to just jump on vines, or how to get up on a giant rock with Carl and catapult Russell to the other side of a cliff. You can also destroy plants for coins, or bugs. You can find bugs under logs or rocks. You can catch butterflies also. It’s easier for Carl to catch butterflies, because he sticks his cane up.

In this level you find a tri-colored prehistoric bird who Russell calls Kevin, not knowing it’s a girl. Kevin is a rare bird that an evil guy wants to capture. She has babies and Russell wants to help her find them. Russell can use Kevin to do stuff Carl can’t do.

Wahoo! We’re going down a river. Dodge the falling rocks! There’s a snake! Keep going we’re almost to the light! Wahhh! Crash! It’s a giant snake! Here are a couple tips to beat. Dangle Carl from a rope and when the snake lunges at you make sure there was an eel where you were to hurt it hurt the snake tree times.

Another river? I think we time warped levels. Whoa, there is a rock right there. Swerve to the left, falling spikes! Gak, hurry! Splash! What Dug? A crocodile! Where I don’t see i-whoa! There it is. It blended in with the muck.

“Give me the bird,” demanded the bad guy. Yikes, airplanes attacking the house. This looks like a job for Dug! First you have to shoot down two planes, then four, then six, then a giant blimp. It’s super tough to do. This is one awesome game I’d recomend.

New Stuff: Wii Fit

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Got this interview in my e-mail this morning. This title comes out on May 19, 2008.

Hello, everyone. My name is Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. As you may already know, some time ago I began conducting a series of interviews explaining the vision behind Wii. Now I’d like to continue that process to help explain the thinking and planning behind our new product, Wii Fit.

Over the course of the next few weeks we will hear from those who were actually involved in the development of this title. Given that I will be interviewing my own employees, I admit this is a somewhat interesting experiment, but by talking face-to-face with them, I hope to convey why we believe this is such an important product.
